Hirepool is New Zealand’s biggest hire operator. It has quality equipment to hire for everything from major construction projects and things like big events or filmmaking, through to what you might need for DIY.

Founded in 1955, Hirepool has grown to 70 branches throughout New Zealand. In the past couple of years a five-year digital transformation plan, including 20 IT projects in the past 24 months, has been an important part of that.

As Hirepool’s technology partner, BTG plays an integral part of that digital transformation. Neil Dwight, BTG’s Chief Operations Officer, says it has also meant Hirepool’s IT spend has grown.

“When Hirepool decided to do a market assessment we quickly realised it had little to do with our performance and more to do with the fact it’s the prudent thing for any company to do,” he says. “Actually it was good to be able to detail exactly the services and expertise we provide and explain the relevant costs.”

Ani Sengupta, General Manager of Digital and Technology for Hirepool, says doing a market check on technology costs was one of his mandates when he was appointed to his role two years ago.

“The impact of COVID-19 reinforced the need to examine all IT costs this year including our costs for managed services,” he says.
