The challenge: Old everything
Pan Pac is on a rapid growth strategy. One of the barriers to that growth has been their ICT infrastructure.
“We were with another company for a 3 year period with BTG managing the service… at the end of the contract term we assessed the service levels, which in our opinion didn’t measure up to their specifications.”
Jason brought in BTG to implement change without bringing business to its knees.
“Pan Pac is a 24/7 operation. This is not insignificant when making changes. The allowable window for outages is very small. Things have to be done in parallel and be non service disrupting.”
The solution: non disruptive, collaborative
Pan Pac need and rely upon multiple essential partnerships. Maximising and leveraging the expertise from each to facilitate the rapid growth phase they are in. The theme for this project was partnership. Working to each other’s strengths.
“One of the many things we had to do was migrating to Office 365. Quite an undertaking. Many stages. Many phases. We were looking for a partner to work with who had the skill and expertise in migration. We knew and selected BTG to help us with that.”
The implementation: Every step. Executed with precision.
There were multiple phases to this migration. Each one had to be executed with precision or the next phase would be held up. One of BTG’s senior engineers, Nikolai, jumped in early, upgrading the Exchange server to enable a migration to 365.
“The staff at BTG had the skill. Setting it up. Fine tuning it. Getting it to work very effectively. What stood out was the understanding of the complexity of the roll out. How everything fit together. Every step was a success.”
BTG did a lot of the Production Ready Programming (PRP) work in the background. Pan Pac rolled out the users. Nikolai did the entire project remotely, keeping an eye on things, stepping in when needed.
The results: it’s all about success.
According to Jason, with a migration like this, the optimal success metric is that when issues come up, they are solved in a timely fashion. Not just left or glossed over.
“The best result is success. Having good statements of work. Good project management. Good reporting. That was all evidenced in the work we do with with BTG.”
